Ray G (real name Uwoloh Nwabueze Raymond) is a Afro Hip Hop artiste, and an enthusiast.
Born in Asaba, Delta State, he discovered he had a passion for music at a rather young age going on to write his first verse by the time he turned nine.
After high school, he gained admission into the Lagos State university to study Business Administration. “I started music right from my secondary school days back in 1994, after school I brought out two new singles titled Show me your Love” and “Stay in da Game”, both song was produced by Marvelous Benji .
The songs enjoy massive air play then. After my university days and my youth service period I brought out my first album titled Togo Najia Connection, which contain tracks likes; it’s “A Party ft Tinny” from Ghana, “Predencia”, “Show Luv ft Rough Rugged” and “Raw’, ‘Togo Connection” and “Lifeft W4”.
He shot three videos from that album; ‘Togo Connection”, “Predencia” and “Its Party FT Tinny” which was shot in Ghana.
Ray G went back to writing and recording with some of the hottest producers in Nigeria, like Jiggy Jegs, J Sleek, Spanky, Together, they recorded Otutu, a single which, despite its unreleased status, went on to feature prominently in NYSC camps in both Eastern and Western Nigeria in 2008 and beyond.
In a bid to discover how well he had developed since signing to Warlor Records, a record label owned by his brother, Peter, a successful businessman who has been very supporting and encouraging to his career as a musician. He thereafter released his new album titled ‘Unexpected’.
“my new album, “Unexpected”, a 15 track album featuring Nigeria’s finest, Timaya, Sound sultan, W4, JayWon , Tamara from (Naija Sings) and many more. The album carries some of his hit singles that have been rocking the air before now, like; Otutu ft Jaywon and W4, sile sile and spend my money ft Timaya”.
Ray G deviates from what we’ve seen in his body of work so far. We see Ray as he is fondly addressed by his admirers, drop the playful and loving demeanor for a more rough edged foray into the struggle that has come to make up the fast rising musical act we see today.
