BY BENJAMIN NJOKU
If you have seen actress Ngozi Nwaosu recently, perhaps, two things are bound to engage your mind; one, that the actress has fallen on bad times and secondly, she has re-invented herself. Whichever way, you want to look at it, you may not be far from the truth.
The initially robust-looking, yet fair-complexioned actress is at the moment a direct opposite of her old self.
Spotting her at a recent function at the National theatre, Iganmu, evoked a lot of sympathy and mouth-wagging among her fans and foes. One is confronted with the pitiable sight of a different Ngozi Nwaosu whose popularity as Madam V Booth and Peace, owing to her roles in “Ripples” and “Fuji House of Commotion has not waned over the years.
Before now, the versatile actress has been keeping low profile in the showbiz industry. Having been adorning the screen for over two and a half decades, the actress now wears low dreadlocks and has indeed shed weight to the shock of her fans.
A handful of her fans are running mouth that Ngozi’s disturbing outlook cannot be unconnected with her facing hard times, since movie producers are no longer comfortable featuing old faces that cannot sell their films any more.
This undesirable discrimination against the early “birds” in Nollywood is seriously telling on their purses, psyches and physiques and Ngozi is no exception.
But do you blame her after what she suffered in the hands of her ex… May be, she’s still grieving. Who knows!
