The Bauchi state
House of Assembly has passed a bill which seeks to establish the Bauchi
State Social Development Institute in Ningi.
The passage of the
bill followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on
Education presented by its chairman, Mohammed Aminu Tukur, member
representing Lere/Bula state constituency.
When established,
the institute will offer one year course of study leading to the award
of certificate in social welfare and community development.
It will equally
offer a two year course of study leading to the award of Diploma in
Social Administration/Social Development, as well as Diploma in
Cooperative Studies.
According to the
provision of the bill, the Institute shall be under the supervision of
the Ministry of Higher Education with a Director as its head.
The bill also
mandates the Academic Board of the Institute to set aside modalities
for entry requirement to acquire standardisation as contained in the
National Policy on Education.
Mr Tukur told the
house that the institute is also to set models for National Board of
Technical Education [NBTE] guidelines or any other professional body to
acquire standard and quality education, as well as accreditation of
approved courses.
The legislators

wives to go out for the current voter registration exercise and
resolved to individually go round their constituencies to enlighten
people on the need to allow their wives partake in the voter
registration.
