The Chairman,
Plateau House of Assembly Committee on Information, Emmanuel Jugul,
says the inability of the House to sit has nothing to do with the
defection of 14 legislators to Labour Party.
Mr Jugul said “We
were elected by our constituents to work for their interest and that is
exactly what we are doing. We do not have the capacity or power to stop
the House from sitting in normal circumstances. Once we are called to
come and sit,we will humbly do so.’’ He said the 14 legislators who
dumped PDP, are still genuine members of the Assembly, who carry out
their legislative functions with zeal. Mr Jugul noted that it is only
when the Speaker calls for sitting can a sitting hold.
There are speculations that the defected members refused to
cooperate with the Assembly to conduct the normal sitting, to frustrate
the passage of the 2011 budget.
