Godwin David, the
gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in
Rivers State, has promised to improve agricultural sector performance,
if elected.
Mr David, a former
Personal Assistant to the Mayor of Port Harcourt City, said this in an
interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Port
Harcourt. He said that he would create a world class environment in the
state by adopting the right policies.
“I will resuscitate Risonpalm, a government-owned palm oil firm, and the water board,” the candidate promised.
According to Mr
David, agriculture is not receiving enough funding from the incumbent
government, in spite of the huge federal allocation and internally
generated revenue.
Though he commended Chibuike Amaechi for his achievements, he
observed that the administration has not done enough to alleviate the
sufferings of the people, considering the huge potentials of the State.
