The Borno Police
Command has said that it shot three suspected robbers along Banki
Highway in Bama Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Mohammed Abubakar,
the Commissioner of Police disclosed this to newsmen in Maiduguri on
Thursday, saying that a police patrol team had been alerted of the
bandits’ operation in the area and had wasted no time mobilising the
men of Operation Black Scorpion to the scene.
He said that an exchange of fire had ensued between the police and the suspected robbers.
“The police patrol
team triumphed over the syndicate of dangerous robbery suspects along
Banki Highway, which links Nigeria to Cameroon Republic. The bandits
had blocked the main road leading to the commercial city of Banki on
Tuesday night.” He said.
According to him, “Three AK 47 rifles, one double barrel automatic
gun, and 83 live ammunition were recovered at the end of the operation.”
