Rihanna and Ciarra in a catfight
Acclaimed singers,
Rihanna and Ciara, engaged one another over the viral social network,
twitter. The fallout was sparked after Ciara made comments about
Rihanna’s outfit on the celebrity fashion channel E!
Appearing as a guest on E!’s Fashion Police, Ciara criticised Rihanna’s outfit to some event they both attended.
“I ran into her at some party and she wasn’t in the nicest,” the ‘Get Up’ singer said about Rihanna.
The four times
Grammy Awards winning ‘Umbrella’ singer, however, retorted to Ciara’s
criticism over twitter. Both singers twittered disparagingly back and
forth for a while before they finally made up, on twitter still.
“Ciara baby, I love
u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I am heartbroken that’s y I
retaliated this way! So sorry!” Rihanna twitted, offering a truce.
Ciara later accepted her apology, tweeting in return, “Rhi u know it’s
always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. Y threw me off in
that party! Apology accepted. Let’s chat in person,” to end the whole
cyber drama.

Lines blur between animated, live action movies
Only 10 years ago,
Oscar organisers created a category for makers of animated films, but
with live-action movies featuring more and more computer images, this
year’s nominees for best animated picture say it is getting harder to
tell the two apart.
“The walls between
live-action and animation are becoming really porous, and it’s
interesting. I think in the decades ahead you’re really going to see
those walls coming down,” Lee Unkrich, director of ‘Toy Story 3′, said
at a symposium of Oscar animation nominees on Thursday night.
Indeed, heading
into last year’s Oscars, the world’s top film awards, there was a lot
of talk as to whether smash hit and best film nominee, ‘Avatar’, was an
animation or live-action because it featured both forms prominently.
Regardless of
whether a distinction is made between the two forms, the Oscar
animators at Thursday’s symposium held by the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences agreed that for their movies, they drew from a broad
palette of live-action, from a classic horse tale to a 1980s Steve
Martin comedy.
Animated movies
were once the lowly cousin to live-action movies, but since the late
1990s, they have proven their appeal as computer animation has taken
over the industry. Films from Disney-Pixar and DreamWorks Animation
have been massive, global box office hits. Disney-Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 3′
became 2010’s top box office draw with $1.1 billion in worldwide ticket
sales, and DreamWorks’ ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ took in nearly $500
million.
Unkrich told the
crowd he can take inspiration from anywhere. “It can come from
live-action, it can come from a painting, it can come from a song,” he
said.
‘The Last Airbender’ crowned worst film
‘The Last
Airbender’ and comedy ‘Sex and the City 2′ earned the wrath of Razzie
voters on Saturday in the annual Oscar spoof that spotlights
Hollywood’s worst performances.
‘Valentine’s Day’
stars, Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Alba, won Golden Raspberry Awards for
worst actor and supporting actress. Kutcher was also pilloried for his
work in another film, ‘Killers’, and Alba for ‘Little Fockers’, ‘The
Killer Inside Me’ and ‘Machete’.
The year’s loudest
Razzie went to director M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Last Airbender’. It
“won” five Razzies to eclipse all other 2010 movies.
Organisers of the
“awards” noted the film was based on an animated television show, and
some young viewers of the cartoon were unhappy with the movie
adaptation.
“When this film
opened, for once critics and fans were in agreement: This movie sucks,”
John Wilson, founder of the Razzies, said at a presentation of Golden
Raspberries.
‘The Last
Airbender’, which came out last summer, is a fantasy action movie about
a boy with the ability to manipulate natural elements who uses his
power to restore harmony to a world divided into warring factions.
The film made
nearly $320 million at global box offices, but received only a 6 per
cent favourable rating at review aggregating website,
RottenTomatoes.com.
