The Federal Capital
Territory (FCT) Minister, Bala Mohammed has been accused of anti-party
activities aimed at frustrating the presidential ambition of Goodluck
Jonathan.
The Bauchi State
Director, Media and Publicity, of Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation,
Garba Bello, made the allegation while speaking to newsmen in Bauchi.
He said: “We frown
at the unhealthy political development emanating from some influential
indigenes of the state based in Abuja. These developments, if not
curtailed, will eventually result into factionalising the
Goodluck/Sambo campaign office and the entire PDP members in the state.
To our surprise, those people from Abuja are operating a parallel
office which is capable of creating division in the party.
According to him,
“these Abuja-based politicians influenced some of the delegates not to
vote for Goodluck/Sambo during the recent PDP Presidential primaries in
Abuja. It may sound contradictory, but it is a fact. All these are
efforts to undermine the efforts of His Excellency in delivering the
state to Mr President.” According to Mr Bello, the Minster held a
meeting in Bauchi after which he held a chat with foreign media that
they will only help Goodluck/Sambo to get 25 percent votes in Bauchi
State and after which they will campaign for the Action Congress of
Nigeria (ACN) in the gubernatorial election to push Isa Yuguda out of
office. “This organisation is thereby appealing to Abuja-based
politicians to come to their state and team up with the organisation in
order to achieve 100 per cent success for PDP,” Mr Bello added.
However, the
Special Assistants to FCT Minister on Politics and Media, Danladi
Maiauduga, and Mr Nosike Ogbuenyi, dismissed the allegation.
They asserted that what the Minister is after is the successful conduct of elections in the country and Bauchi State.
“The governor has excluded the Minister and others who would want
to work for the success of the president and the PDP. In that
situation, do you expect him to come? For instance, he has not invited
him; it is only the Minister that is coming to him in Bauchi. He has
not visited the Minister in his office or residence since he was
appointed a Minister, the governor has taken politics too far,” they
stated.
