Labelled as the first and only “100% Ankara Movie” ever produced, actor/filmmaker, Saidi Balogun presents his latest movie “Eti Keta” (Third Party) in 2011 as beyond a movie – a labour of love and a celebration of our rich and diverse African culture.
The official synopsis of the movie describes “Eti Keta” as a modern story with different twists and turns. It is a story of impatience, man’s futile attempt at doing things outside of the divine will and the consequences involved.
Speaking to The Nation Newspapers, on his motivation for producing the movie, Saidi Balogun whose most recent release, Sakojiya, was well received and commended, has this to say:
“I have always looked for ways of doing things differently and when the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, challenged a group of film-makers to come up with films that would complement our culture, promote tourism and preach the gospel of the made in Nigeria goods, I got thinking and with the help of my team, we were able to come up with the concept of an all Ankara film, which I believe will turn out beautiful. Every costume worn in the movie is hundred per cent made in Nigeria.”
Eti -Keta paraded a strong cast of actors headlined by Saidi Balogun and Kate Henshaw-Nuttall alongside Jide Kosoko, Olumide Bakare, Doris Simeon-Ademinokan, Bukky Ajayi, Eniola Olaniyan, Sola Kosoko, Sunkanmi Omobolanle and Ronke Oj0.
