Delta State
governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Ovie
Omo-Agege, has promised mass housing for the state’s citizens if he is
elected in the April polls. Speaking to journalists at the weekend, Mr.
Omo-Agege disclosed that he had a good housing policy for Delta
indigenes and implored them to give him their votes on April 16, 2011
so that his dream for a greater Delta State could be realised. Mr.
Omo-Agege said that if he was voted into office, his first term would
see the construction of 300 housing units in each of the senatorial
districts, except Delta North, which would get 600 units, being the
state capital.

He added, “The
Delta Development Property Authority (DDPA) will be strengthened. Civil
servants are to benefit greatly from our housing project.”

He said his
administration, if elected, would replicate the agricultural programme,
Songhai Delta, in the three senatorial districts. According to him:
“Government does not create jobs, but we will create an enabling
environment capable of creating 100,000 new jobs for the army of
unemployed youths. We will check the erosion menace in Delta North, and
I also plan to establish two model schools in each local government
areas of the state. It is my desire to turn Delta State into
construction sites.”

Mr. Omo-Agege
solicited for the assistance of the media in the forthcoming election,
noting, “We want credible elections in Delta State in April, and we
want the media to assist us in this regard. The press should give us
equal opportunity.”
