X-clusive To Divinity, popularly known as X2D, is a pan-African
gospel entertainment outfit which originated from Nigeria. Established in 2009
by Deji Irawo, its present Chief Responsibility Officer, and Akin Olu Philip,
its Executive Director and Head of Operations in Ghana, X2D provides a one hour
broadcast of gospel inspired entertainment.
Speaking at a media parley held at the White House, Ikeja on
Wednesday, March 9, 2011, Irawo said, X2D was created because “Christianity has
played a major role in the shaping of the culture, values, tradition and
lifestyle of millions of people spread all over Africa ever since her initial
contact with the missionaries. Over the years, Africa has developed her own
unique creative expressions which in this 21st century are multi diverse,
creative and very impactful on the continent. [As such], X2D is positioned to
be Africa’s leading Christian entertainment and lifestyle multi hour
broadcast”.
X2D provides a platform to showcase the creativity and lifestyle
within the gospel entertainment industry. Its services include music, comedy,
dance, poetry, film and drama.Irawo also added that X2D would offer “a
comprehensive coverage of the gospel entertainment industry across Africa,
featuring news, highlights, events, behind the scenes, interviews, and
documentaries”
On its objectives, Olu Philip said X2D intends to “encourage and
provide media support to the various upcoming creative artists in music, dance,
drama, films, fashion, poetry, painting, and crafts. It will also contribute
positively to the development of a vibrant Christian creative industry”.
Aside showcasing the Africa’s gospel artists, Irawo revealed
that X2D would also create awareness on the importance of educating the girl
child. “We intend to use our creative influence to drum up support for the
education of the girl child who is still being discriminated against in various
parts of Africa on the basis of her gender in relation to education. We believe
education is a fundamental right of everyone on the face of the earth,
enshrined in the constitution of countries all over the world,” he said.
X2D currently airs on eight stations in Nigeria, LTV Lagos, TVC
Lagos, NTA Abuja, GTV Abeokuta, BCOS Ibadan, STV Port Harcourt, PRTV Jos, and
AKBC Uyo. X2D also airs in Ghana and on different pay television bouquets.
