The governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in
Imo State, Ifeanyi Araraume, has said his decision to seek the mandate of the
people is hinged on the backwardness of the state since 2007.

Speaking during his rally at Umuokeh, Mr. Araraume said the
people of the state have another opportunity to vote massively for him as they
did in 2007.

Mr Araraume also said that since the first civilian governor of
the state, Sam Mbakwe left office, no governor has measured up to the standard
he set. He however, said he will surpass Mbakwe’s performance because “I am a
disciple of our icon, Mbakwe.”

He explained that in all the areas where the ACN is governing,
there has been massive turnaround in terms of infrastructure development,
capacity building and empowerment of the people.

“Why is our own state different? Why are the people of Imo State
suffering shortly after the eight years of good performance by the immediate
past administration? That is why we must all work together to reclaim what is our
own.

“The ACN manifesto has free education at the primary and
secondary school levels. This has been implemented in all the states where the
governors are from the ACN. We are going to do the same here so that our
children can go to school.”

He maintained that good roads, pipe borne water and other social
amenities are being taken for granted in all ACN-controlled states and that Imo
will experience same if he is voted into office as governor in April.

Mr. Araraume, a two-time senator, called on the people to vote
for his party and ensure that they remain at their polling booths to see that
their votes are counted.
