The Resident
Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission
in Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Onokogu, has called on Nigerians to pray
for violence-free elections in April.
Mr. Onokogu, who
made the call during a prayer session with staff of the Commission in
Awka, asked them to pray to God to save them from temptations that
might come from the political class during the elections.
He told his staff
that yielding to pressure from politicians to do their “unwholesome
bidding” will negatively affect their work.
The official
expressed the determination of the commission to change the country’s
electoral history through the forthcoming polls.
Mr Onokogu commended the workers for their devotion and dedication
to duty and urged them to continue to offer their best now and during
the elections.
