A Non Governmental
Organisation (NGO), Women and Children Alive (WCA), has appealed to
women to vote for their fellow women vying for various political offices
in the April general elections.
Victoria Balogun, the Executive Director of WCA, made the appeal
while speaking at a rally for potential voters in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State,
on Monday. Mrs Balogun said a vote for women in the coming elections
meant a vote for change. “I urge women across the country to go out en
masse and vote for their fellow women seeking political offices for
positive change. “I believe women can do better in the management of the
nation’s resources. “Women should know that it is their right to vote
for women because we have a caring and compassionate heart. What men can
do, women can do better,” she said. Mrs Balogun said the WCA has
sensitised women in various communities on the need to vote for their
fellow women. The executive director, urged the electorate to turn out
en masse on election days, she said they should make their votes count
by voting for candidates of proven integrity.
