The Zamfara State
chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has
promised to cooperate with the state’s governor-elect, Yari Abubakar,
in moving the state forward.
CNPP Chairman in
the state, Zayyana Haske, said at a press conference in Gusau that the
groups is “satisfied with the result of the election which returned
Yari as the governor-elect.
“For the first
time, people voted in line with their conscience and at the end of the
day, their votes counted despite desperate attempts to use incumbency
factor to truncate popular opinion,’’ he said.
“In spite of the fact that we are in the opposition, we only oppose when things are not done in the right way.
“Now that we are satisfied with the conduct of the election in the state, we will contribute our quota to its development.”
The group advised
the governor-elect to assess ongoing projects started by the outgoing
administration with a view to completing those that have direct bearing
on the people.
