The Governing Council of the University of Jos has appointed Hayward Mafuyai as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.
A statement signed
by the Registrar, Jilli Dandam, issued on Sunday in Jos, said that the
appointment of Mr. Mafuyai followed the report of the council’s
Selection Board for the appointment of a new vice chancellor.
The statement said
that the appointment was in accordance with the powers conferred on the
council by the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision)
Amendment Act, 2003.
Mr. Mafuyai, a
specialist in Medical Entomology, will assume office on June 13, at the
expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Vice Chancellor, Sonni
Tyoden.
