5. Youssouf Mulumbu (West Brom/DR Congo)
Appearances/goals: 32/5
The DR Congo international midfielder has been outstanding for West Brom this year in helping them to a respectable mid-table position. Once a French junior international, the 24-year-old has opted to play senior football for DR Congo, having joined West Brom from PSG for the latter stages of the 2008/09 campaign, before making the move permanent.
4. Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland/Ghana)
Appearances/goals: 30/10
The Ghana World Cup star joined the Black Cats at the start of the 2010/11 season from French Ligue 1 side Rennes and has made an immediate impact despite being laid low by injuries on occasion. He scored on debut for Sunderland against Wigan in September and since then has been a regular scorer, as well as providing assists for teammates.
3. Yaya Toure (Manchester City/Cote dIvoire)
Appearances/goals: 32/6
Toure took a few months to settle in England and at one stage admitted he was back at Barcelona, from who he joined City at the start of the 2010/11 season. Able to play either as a defensive midfielder or much further forward, he tends to be used in an attacking role by City boss Roberto Mancini. His powerful displays in midfield have been a great foil for the more skillful players such as David Silva and Carlos Tevez.
2. Didier Drogba (Chelsea/Cote dIvoire)
Appearances/goals: 35/12
This might not have been Drogbas most prolific season but he is still a major supplier of goals to the Chelsea cause. Illness meant he was not at his fittest for much of the campaign, but he continued to be a leading light for The Blues, who rely heavily on his attacking instincts. At 33 his career might be winding down, but he is still a highly-effective Premiership player.
1. Peter Odemwingie (West Brom/Nigeria)
Appearances/goals: 31/15
Nobody really took much notice when West Brom signed Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie from Russian club Locomotive Moscow, but what a season the 29-year-old has had. His 15 goals make him comfortably the clubs top scorer (the next highest is just four) and his all-round play has been excellent as well. West Brom will do well to hang on to him at the end of the campaign.
