A young man Augustine Ejiakpo of Okwejegba Village in Okpe Council Area of Delta State has been arrested for the alleged murdered of his 65 year-old mother, Mrs. Margret Uyayefe over family differences last Saturday night.
Reports said that Margret had allegedly picked up quarrel with her son over an undisclosed issue leading to the exchange of unprintable words.
The quarrel reportedly degenerated to a point when the young man in anger reached for a cement block with which he repeatedly hit his mother on the head and back.
LEADERSHIP gathered that his mother slumped and passed out on the spot before she was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Delta state police spokesman Charles Muka who confirmed the incident said that Augustine had been arrested while the corpse of his mother had been deposited at the general hospital morgue in Okpe.
He disclosed that a similar incident occurred in Sapele when a young man identified as Kelly Akposi allegedly stabbed his brother to death in a feud over money sharing.
Muka said that Kelly Akposi and his younger brother Boro Akposi had a disagreement over the sharing of money when Kelly allegedly stabbed his brother to death.
The police image maker said the suspects in the two murder cases are now helping the police in their investigations.
