Unemployment and attendant poverty have been linked to the increase and proliferation of crime in the country thus affecting the security of the people.

The state coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Yobe State, Alhaji Adamu Ba’aba Fika made the observation while speaking with LEADERSHIP WEEKEND in his office in Damaturu on the achievements of his agency.

He said the NDE in Yobe has trained over 500 people on various vocational skills with a view to reducing the rate of unemployment in the state.

He therefore urged state governments, NGOs and well-to-do individuals to cooperate with the directorate towards reducing the rate of unemployment in the state.
He also expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts and positive contribution in providing job opportunities through collaboration with the directorate while appealing that the government assists NDE with operational vehicles to enhance its activities.

One of the recent beneficiaries of the NDE training programme, Mallam Baba Mohammed Luccu, who spoke to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND expressed appreciation to NDE for providing people like him with such an opportunity, adding that they received N200,000 loan as settlement fund after the training.
