A source told LEADERSHIP that the late SP Muhammed was attacked and assassinated at Tunfure, an area on the outskirts of Gombe, while he was travelling from Kaltungo to Kwami local government area of the state.
Unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins shot him to death and made away with his personal vehicle.
It was further explained that the deceased was the DPO at Kaltungo Divisional Police Headquarters and had been transferred to Kwami, where he was expected to resume duty.
Gombe State police public relations officer, SP Ahmed Doma, confirmed the incident, but however said that there was no full official report as yet, as the matter was under investigation.
As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to contact the police commissioner in the state had proved abortive. ?
