Former Minister of Information and Communication, Professor Jerry Gana has said that Nigerians, despite the existence of democratic rule in the country for the past 12 years, are still in dire need of democracy dividends.
He said that Nigerians in the past 12 years have exercised enough patience and as such, the need for the government to provide positive transformation through the deliverance of dividends of democracy in the next four years.
Professor Gana was speaking in Kaduna yesterday at the National Communication Summit, organized by Timex School of Communication, stated that ‘democracy must deliver for credibility’.
“Government had thrived in the last 12 years, but because of the size of the population of Nigeria, because of the variety of challenges, because of the development needs, because of the deficit in different areas, be it infrastructure, education, health and others it has not made headway”.
He called on the government at all levels to redouble its efforts towards the cause and added that government must work hard to ensure that development becomes real and not just talked about. ?
