The All Nigeria Peoples Party ANPP yesterday reacted to allegations raised by the Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Gen. Jeremiah Useni and a member of the Borno emirate council, Alhaji Zanna Bukar Umaru Mandara that the immediate past governor of Borno state, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff has a case to answer concerning the activities of the Islamic sect, Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnah Lid Da’awati Wal Jihad otherwise known as Boko Haram.
According to the party, “ANPP has never been part of Boko Haram and Sheriff is not the originator of Boko Haram.’’ Adding that people making such statements are just out to tarnish the good image of the party in the state and the former governor.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND in Abuja, a National Executive Committee (NEC) member and Adamawa State chapter chairman of the ANPP, Alhaji Umar Duhu, said that, ‘‘government has refused to call elders in Maiduguri to dialogue and this is prolonging the problem. ANPP never founded Boko Haram and the comment of Gen. Jeremiah Useni that the Boko Haram sect was a political thuggery form by Sheriff is unfortunate’’.
