Jossy and Confidence
This was one relationship viewers were deprived of, no thanks to Jossy’s early eviction. The Namibian struck a romantic chord with Ghanaian nightclub owner Confidence in the first two weeks. His smacking of the Ghanaian’s behind during a task on the second day and the party ‘boob job’ Confidence threw at him on the first Saturday night were the signs. Whenever the Ghanaian prepared meals, it was common sight to see her serve her man specially.
Alex and Millicent
Millicent was the bold one in this relationship. On her very first day in the house, she chose her man, Alex and gave him a long kiss. Bewildered housemates believed she was acting, but the Ghanaian was actually drawn to her. The ‘motherly’ advice of Confidence, his country mate ensured that he didn’t pursue this relationship further. Even when the duo met up again in the ‘Tails’’ house, the love affair could not be rekindled, because Alex had other ideas. This could adequately be termed a ‘fling’.
Alex and Vimbai
If Vimbai was ever vulnerable, it was evident in the ease with which she offered her love. It was so strange to see Vimbai holding on to Alex, almost immediately he opted not to pursue any further love connections with Millicent. There was one ‘big one’ with Vimbai after ‘lights out’ in the first week. Alex had Vimbai’s ear in his mouth and his right leg on her, but ‘Biggie’’s separation of the houses brought this affair to a sad and untimely end.
Michael and Nkuli
It was rumoured that this duo had been together sometime before getting into the house. Whatever they had was unfinished and the former lovebirds hit it off almost immediately. Despite Michael’s acclaimed ‘lover boy’ status, Nkuli gave him an ear anytime he came up with his long and winding stories. Housemates accused the Mozambican of wanting to get in between her legs in the very first week. This relationship was also truncated by the division of the house into ‘heads and Tails’, but they did meet up after both were evicted.
Lomwe and Hanni
Affectionately called Lohan, the duo hit it off after a Saturday night party. It looked like Hanni had her eyes on Lomwe and chose the right occasion to make her intentions known. “You can take your time,’ she told him as the two lay side by side on the couch after the party. A combination of factors stemming from some reservations expressed by Hanni ensured that the Malawian rapper lost interest and decided not to force anything any longer.
Miguel and Sharon O
Miguel had actually made his intentions known to the Ugandan songstress from the onset. On the second day, he was able to isolate Sharon O and tell her he had feelings for her. When the house was divided, Michael turned his attentions to the mother of one and made some substantial headway. Despite Sharon’s reservations on the relationship, viewers were treated to scenes when Michael gave her a back massage, put his head on her lap and shared his drinks with her. But Vimbai’s swapping of Michael and his subsequent eviction deprived viewers of one of the most tantalising affairs on the show.
Ernest and Bhoke
EBhok, as the duo were known, was a combination of two people who were accused of “not wanting to play the game”. Bhoke came into the house with some insecurity about her single status, while Ernest seemed uncertain in what he wanted out of relationships. The ‘Tails’ house provided them a platform for them to hit it off. A steamy Jacuzzi scene was followed by a ‘sexcapade’ under the glare of Africa. The duo angered viewers by their inability to connect with other housemates and were infamously booted out of the show on the same day.
Nic and Kim
Nic and Kim, NiKim, seemed to enjoy this relationship of convenience. The twosome were clever individuals who played into each other’s hands. The Kenyan television producer enjoyed the late night-under-the-sheet-talks while the Zambian lass was thrilled by the amount of attention she received. Nic was not prepared for anything serious and when push came to shove he made his boundaries clear. Kim was emotionally hit and decided to put up her man for possible eviction. He was promptly evicted by the voting audience.
Vimbai and Wendall
Vimbai opted to take her chance against fellow country person and self-acclaimed ‘virgin’ Wendall, and it handsomely paid off. Wendall was considered a bore by many viewers but his acceptance of the model gave viewers an opportunity to see some interesting side to him. The Zimbabweans could be seeing snuggling on the floor or talking in corners by themselves. There was also the rolling-on-the-floor-scene in the ‘Heads’ house. Just this week, Vimbai opted to save her friend and put up Mumba in his stead when he was nominated for possible eviction by housemates.
Alex and Miss P
This was a case of making the available desirable when the desirable was not available. Ghana’s Alex was a player extraodinaire and was not ready to stay alone for long. Botswana’s Miss P also needed someone to share her time with and Alex was at hand. Miss P’s territorial prowess ensured that Alex wanted out, as he would not have ample time to ‘play the game’ with the other girls. There was a scene in the Jacuzzi one night and a kissing session on another occasion. The duo were booted out last week after their ‘strategy’ was let out of the bag.
To be continued next week . . . ?
