Bauchi State Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed yesterday finally brought to an end their nearly three year political feud at a public reconciliation parley in Abuja yesterday.
The two resolved to bury the hatchet yesterday when the governor visited the minister in his Life Camp residence in Abuja, in a move that has been perceived to be a strategy towards consolidating the stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Yuguda said that they had decided to set aside their differences and work together for the development and growth of the state and noted that little or nothing could be achieved without peace.
“We in Bauchi State are very happy that the President re-appointed our brother and son and has given him the portfolio of the FCT. We have never had it so good. In fact, this time round, the president has given us two ministers. We are very confident given that with the first one year in office, he (Bala) did not disappoint the country nor disappoint the President.
“We are God- chosen through our people to lead the state and we are more like siamese twins because we have come a long way. He is more like a brother to me and even if it is otherwise, the fact that we have found ourselves in these positions compels us to come together in the service of our people because if we do not come together, there is no way we can show exemplary leadership to those who are coming up that leaders have to be united to pursue an agenda for development, growth and moral up bringing on our citizens. This is a special day for me and I feel contented. From here, we will go home to strategise and see how we can move the state forward,” he said.
The minister, who expressed happiness at the re-union, described it as a restoration of his umbilical cord, the absence of which had caused him tremendous misfortune in the past three years.
