Boboye Onduku examines the chances of seven housemates in their battle with eviction this week ahead of the finale of Big Brother Amplified.Vimbai will be unlucky
Vimbai is up against many forces. Viewers from Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria and even her native Zimbabwe are bearing down on her. How she will survive their fangs is not visible up till this day. It is a pity she has had a running battle with housemates from these countries. First was Michael, the Mozambican whom she never forgave for daring to say that Zimbabwean contestants were government sponsored. She took on Sharon O for being a beauty without brains and got irritated by the fact that Karen has a ‘limited vocabulary!
Zambians won’t forget the big blow she gave them last week for putting Mumba on the eviction chopping board. Her country mates are analysing her chances on the show and may pitch their tent again with Wendall, who is also up for eviction. If you do the maths, that is five countries less for Vimbai. Out of the remaining ten, Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya and
Malawi have candidates also up for eviction. Then there are the customary Rest of Africa and Ghanaian votes that Nigerian viewers have a stranglehold on that will not come her way. Vimbai can only expect to get some sympathy from Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana and Angola but Botswana seems to have a pact with South Africa.
A two-country vote is the maximum for Vimbai and that will not be enough to keep her on the show.
End of the road for Luclay
Luclay is arrogant, Luclay is crazy…Just fill in the blanks with any similar words and you couldn’t be wrong. Disrespect and disdain for fellow housemates have been the hallmark of his ‘game’. This time viewers will teach him a lesson in Manners 101.
His sins are many. Viewers from Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia and Angola are itching to see this selfish lad from South Africa get the booth on Sunday. His part in the disqualification of Lotus still irks Tanzanians. His spat with Uganda’s Ernest is evergreen, same as his disrespect and violation of Nigeria’s Karen. Ghanaians can’t forget in a hurry his tirades at Alex.
Remember the failed LuWeza affair? The Rest of Africa can’t understand why Luclay has not been disqualified for been stubborn. Zambians can’t forget how he pushed Mumba into a corner by his outbursts. That is 7 countries less for Luclay already. Add Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe who have no choice but to save their own and that leaves only four-country votes for Luclay.
South Africa and Botswana represent his best berths for votes while he hopes Namibia and Mozambique might forgive him for his many sins. These uncertainties present a maximum of three country votes for him and he will be eliminated.
Hanni is here to stay
By some rush of blood to the head, Hanni refused to nominate any housemate for possible eviction and has brought these eviction woes upon herself. One could be forced to think that with her buddy and best friend, Vina as head of house, she was expecting to be saved and replaced. How wrong that was for Hanni because any day and anytime, blood is thicker than water.
Nigerians would not have forgiven Vina if she had saved her and Vina was very sensible in this regard by opting to save Karen.
Hanni’s don’t-hurt-anyone posture may have played out well for her leading to this stage. But she will have discordant voices from Malawi and Kenya due to some minor spats with Lomwe (and Felicia) and Millicent. Add Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa who are consigned to vote for one of their own and the list bulges to 5 countries against the songstress. But those are very good stats for the Ethiopian as she has prospects in at least 8 countries if Botswana’s voting allegiance with South Africa and that between Uganda and Kenya are considered.
close friendship with Vina and Ethiopia’s votes to keep the Nigerian on the show last week will be repaid in full. It means that Nigeria, Ghana and the rest of Africa will tilt towards her. If she can get any one of Namibia, Mozambique, Angola and Tanzania, it will be a huge boost. The Ethiopian is bound to stay put on the show even with her assured four country votes as a result of the Nigerian backing she will receive.
Kim, O Kim
How times have changed for Kim. These days it is more of the bottle (oops! the alcohol) doing the talking on her behalf. When she decides to do the talking, Wendall thinks ‘her game has changed’.
There’s also this concealed smartness that housemates are noticing about her and Vina just like Nic, is wary of this. But there’s a certain level of smartness that’s not beholding: nominating Vina, just to see if she’ll follow in her Nigerian sister’s footsteps (seeing as Africa has confidence in her). Nigerians won’t take kindly to that assertion. That means a loss of Nigerian country votes and those of Ghana and the rest of Africa – that are greatly influenced by Nigerians. Kenyan and Malawian audience have seen the dangerous game of the Zambian beautician.
The ‘unwise’ nominations of Nic and Lomwe will not help her survival cause in these two countries. Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana and Uganda will give their country votes to any other contestant but not Kim.
Out of the remaining five ( Zambia, Angola, Tanzania, Mozambique and Namibia), she will face an uphill task to gather even 3 country votes and this may well spell doom for her continued stay on the show.
Millicent has to pray hard
If there is any body that should be wary of elimination on Sunday, then Millicent ranks highest. Reason: she is the last of the Heads ‘shipments’ Big Brother gave a second chance on the Show. The trend has been ‘from Heads to Tails then eviction’ whenever they were put on the evictions list. Danny, Weza and Bernadina have all been given the stick and Millicent may just roundup the cycle.
Nonetheless, Millicent has her own personal battles to overcome. Her altercations with Weza, Confidence and Hanni have won her enemies from Angola, Ghana and Ethiopia. Then there are the block votes from Nigeria and Rest of Africa on one hand, and South Africa and Botswana on the other hand that will not go her way. Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Zambia will opt to save their country mates on the eviction list. Nevertheless, the voting alliance between Kenya and Uganda will swing her way but she has to battle for Namibia, Mozambique and
Tanzania with a horde of other contestants and it is an uphill task for the actress and football coach.
Wendall’s game may explode
Vina put Wendall up because she felt he is too competitive. Millicent points accusing fingers his way because he has failed to open up to her. Viewers across Africa think the light-skinned Zimbabwean is boring. All of this is true for Wendall who has played the game to his own script so far. The last time out on the eviction table, Wendall surprised any doubting Thomas by gathering four country votes to stay in the game.
Wendall has been on a collision cause with Vina from the outset of the Show. Millicent’s reservations about him are not far-fetched considering the fact that the duo also had a spat. This will ensure that the Nigerian, Ghanaian, Rest of Africa, Ugandan and Kenyan votes will elude him.
That number will be swelled further by Malawi, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, and Ethiopia who have country nominees and allegiance to protect. That will leave him to battle for Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Mozambique, Angola and Namibia votes. Four countries maybe within his reach and also save his well-played out game from exploding in his face.
Lomwe stays?
Lomwe announced his arrival on the big stage by surviving eviction with five country votes last week. This week, he is back on the chopping board, courtesy of Vina who put him up in Karen’s, stead.
Lomwe’s altercations have been with Hanni, his estranged Lohan mate. He just can’t seem to get off nominating the Ethiopian law student. There is the silent war with Vimbai over outside the house issues while Kim is rearing to have his head on a plate despite their closeness. Sharon O has not taken his overtures lightly and is still wary of him. South
Africans (and Tswanans by extension) will not like the fact that he nominated Luclay for possible eviction. Nigerians (and by extension Ghanaians and the Rest of Africa) will also not forget his pranks to get Vina into his bed.
Out of the remaining seven countries, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda may look elsewhereto save their contestants. The Malawian will have to rely on Angola, Tanzania a and Namibia to keep him in the game this Sunday.?
