FG, NACCIMA Woo Foreign Investors

Foreign investors seeking investment have been called upon to look the way of Nigeria because of its suitable economic environment which ensures return on investment that is unmatched anywhere in the world.

In a press statement signed by the NACCIMA media officer, Mrs. Rosemary Agweven, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Ayim Pius Ayim, made the call when a delegation of the NACCIMA D-8 Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry led by the Chairman, Dr. Herbert Ademola Ajayi paid him a courtesy call in his office in Abuja.

The statement said that the SGF said the economic transformation agenda of the government has as one of its focal points, the encouragement of foreign direct investments inflow into the country both for industrial development and employment generation.
Ayim said President Goodluck Jonathan is committed to creating the right environment for businesses to thrive, especially by supporting the private sector as the major driver of the economy for the speedy attainment of the goals of Vision 20:2020.
He commended the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) for its determined efforts in collaborating with the government to achieve speedy economic transformation plan especially through the agricultural sector which has the greatest potentials for the industrialization of the country.

“Of particular interest is the desire to mandate city chambers to work with their state governments to transform the agricultural sector. This is a commendable effort which is appreciated. We will complement your efforts in that respect by encouraging all the states and even local governments to show very keen interest by cooperating with you,” he added.

The Secretary to the Federal Government gave the assurance that government would do all in its power to support NACCIMA in the attainment of goals which are ultimately geared towards ensuring the growth of the Nigerian economy through industrialization and job creation.
According to him, the success of the just concluded elections in the country has signaled the readiness of the government to advance the country to greater heights in the shortest time.

Earlier, Dr. Ajayi explained that the D-8 is a platform for cooperation among the eight member countries for growth in the areas of agriculture, modular refineries, tourism and culture, adding that we want to see what NACCIMA can contribute to the transformation agenda of the government through the D-8.
He added that the task before the government is great hence NACCIMA has mandated all its 51 chambers nationwide to cooperate with the state governments to fast track industrialization and job creation through the establishment of at least one industry in each state and the Federal Capital Territory.
The NACCIMA President hailed the Federal Government for taking pragmatic steps aimed at giving Nigerians a new lease of life in the shortest time possible, saying the chamber is willing to offer expert advice to governments in its areas of competence.

On the entourage of the NACCIMA boss were the Secretary-General of the D-8 Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Abdolreza Rezaei Hanjani, D-8 Council members including Turkey and Iran officials as well as the 2nd Deputy National President of NACCIMA, Chief Bassey Edem, National Vice-Presidents, Iyalode Alaba Lawson and Alhaji Mai Jama’a and the Director-General, Mr. John Isemede.
