President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered and directed the Federal Ministry of Works with immediate effect to assess the damages on roads caused by heavy rainfall which broke the highway linking Gombe, Yobe and Borno states and cut away some local governments of Kwami, Funakaye and Nafada of Gombe State.

Speaking on the development Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State who was at the scene of the incident to assess the situation for himself revealed that he has personally discussed the situation with the president on how best to tackle the situation considering the fact that the road links about three states and happens to be the busiest road in the whole of the North-east sub-region.

The governor said President Goodluck Jonathan has already directed the Federal Ministry of Works led by the deputy director of the ministry, Mr. Abubakar Gambo to visit the place and assess the damage.

Dankwambo said the federal government delegation led by Mr. Abubakar was at the scene of the incident to ascertain the extent of damage and ways to bring the situation under control with immediate effect.?
