The federal government has intervened on the failed section of the Oshodi-Apapa expressway in Lagos, deploying Julius Berger Plc to fix the area near Rainbow bus stop.
The minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, who disclosed this in Abuja, also urged Nigerians using the road to bear with the contractors over any inconvenience they might experience during the course of the repair of the road.
A statement from the office of the minister also quoted Onolememen as saying that during his inspection of the road last week, it was found that the road had suffered over the years due to the many trailers and other heavy-duty vehicles going to and from the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports.
The minister also promised to take the rehabilitation of the road seriously.
But shortly after the visit of the minister to the road and other projects in Lagos State, the Rainbow area of the Oshodi-Apapa road was reported to have collapsed, causing a heavy traffic jam.
The statement added that the federal government was prompt in mobilising Julius Berger Plc and Boroni Prono to fix the road, to bring respite to users of the road.?
