Kaduna State governor, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to fully rehabilitate displaced persons during the post-election crisis that erupted from the state.
Speaking in Atlanta recently, the governor said that the welfare of the internally displaced people and citizens of the Kaduna State as a whole was another major area that his government has paid and would continue to pay serious attention to.
He said he has set up a Commission of Inquiry under the leadership of the state commissioner of information, Mr. Saidu Adamu, to look into the matter, stressing that he is waiting for the reports of the commission before his government can know the causes and solutions to the crisis.
He said: “My administration is not happy with burning of houses, killing and maiming of innocent people, destruction of public, commercial places and places of worship, and we will do everything to ensure that such unfortunate incident does not happen in the state again.”
“The Commission of Inquiry that the government of Kaduna State set up to look into the matter includes the Police Commands, State Security Service, members from the two major religions, I mean the Islam and Christianity. They have been putting heads together to tackle the plights of the people that were displaced during the crisis” He added.
Governor Yakowa, however, called on all other political parties in the state to embrace peace, shun violence and develop the mentality to know that instigating unemployed youths is not the only solution to fight for their mandates if they feel cheated during any election.
