The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has rated Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State as the highest producer of and dealer in marijuana popularly known as Indian hemp.
The Head of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the State, Mr. Samuel Azigi, said this in Makurdi while parading one Terlumun Adzege before newsmen.
The NDLEA boss also said that the 42 year- old man has cultivated over 2.5 hectares of Indian hemp amounting to 271 kilogramme at Ikyurav-ya area of Kwande Local Government.
He said that the suspect confessed that he had been in the business for over five years for his master, still at large, even as the NDLEA boss promised to bring the fleeing drug czar to book.
Azigi said that logistics had been the problem of the command but expressed the hope that government would soon come to its aid and added that he has been able to rehabilitate over 62 drug addicts in the state.
Similarly, the NDLEA boss also disclosed that the agency impounded 45,000 litres of locally produced gin popularly called Ogogoro worth over N4.7m from a dealer in Zaki-Biam area of Benue state.
