Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida marked his 70th birthday with special prayers led by the chief Imam of Minna, Abu Fari and an Islamic scholar Professor Segun Adeniran.
The Chief Imam of Minna and the Islamic Scholar prayed that God may grant the former president long life and good health to continue to contribute his own quarter to the growth of the nation.
The Islamic leader admonished the former president to remain steadfast in his service to humanity while urging him to be more dedicated to God’s service
Among the people who were present at the special prayers was the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal, who said that the life of the former president was a fulfilled one and added that it was a rare privilege to attain the ripe age of 70.
Also at the occasion, former Minister of Information, Chief Alex Akinyele, eulogised the former military president for his contribution to humanity and said that he has been a leading light in the service to the nation.
Also speaking, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani Kayode, said that IBB was one of the most misunderstood leader who has done great service to the nation.
Meanwhile Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu in his tribute said that Babangida’s life was a testimony to the power of good leadership and purposeful living.
Those who were also at the special prayers were former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alpha Belgore, Senator John Shagaya, Colonel Abdulmumini Aminu, Colonel John Madaki among others.
