Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has disclosed that the state government will go into partnership with an Italian-based non governmental organisation known as Opera Don Bonifacio Azione Verde to render services to humanity.
Disclosing this in Government House, Owerri when a team from the organisation led by Rev. Fr. Boniface Duru, paid him a courtesy visit, Governor Okorocha maintained that such partnership is necessary owing to the fact that administration and the organisation? share a common vision on humanitarian issues.
He stated that Imo Foundation which was established by his administration to offer humanitarian services will work closely with the organisation to achieve the purpose.
Governor Okorocha however commended Rev. Fr. Duru who incidentally is an indigene of the state, for his service to humanity and assured him of government’s support while in the state.
The governor who promised to visit the Human Development Centre project being executed by the organisation at Amaigbo, Nwangele LGA before they return to Italy, further expressed that the free education declared by his administration was to ensure that every child in the state gets the opportunity of being educated.
Earlier, the founder of the organisation, Rev. Fr. Boniface Duru disclosed that the organization, which was founded in 2000 in Italy now has its roots spread all over the world.
He also disclosed that the organization has a health program through which it offers free medical treatment and drugs to rural dwellers annually in Imo State and further declared the intention of his team to partner with the state government on the areas deemed necessary.
