The Chairman, Chanchangi Airlines Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi has denied sponsoring the Islamic sect, Boko Haram. A magazine publication had mentioned him among one of the men behind the Boko Haram terror group.
Chanchangi stated this while addressing a press conference in Kaduna yesterday which he said was a reaction to a report published by an Abuja based monthly magazine which indicted him as one of the sponsors of the Boko Haram in the North.
The conference which was jointly addressed by the Managing Director and Executive Director (operations) of the Airlines, Mr. Trevor Worthington and Alhaji Musa Chanchangi respectively said, “the publication was not only false, but misleading as well, because the Airline chairman is a philanthropist who promotes both the western and Islamic education through a secondary school he founded where indigent students of different religious faith enjoyed scholarship.
“We, the management of Chanchangi Airlines Nigeria Limited, wish to react to a publication in a magazine headlined; Boko Haram: The men behind the terror. In page 18 of the magazine, our chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi was included as one of the sponsors of the religious sect.
“The report is not only false, it is misleading and it is a figment of the imagination of the publisher, the writer. We see it as the handiwork of mischief makers who are all out to tarnish the reputable image of our chairman which he has built over the years.
“The publisher threw professionalism away to the mud and went ahead to publish a speculation in order to sell his paper. In deliberate attempt to cover up their mess, the name of the writer or author of the report was not included.
