The negotiation between the Bauchi State government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over the implementation of the new national minimum wage has ended in a deadlock as workers to receive old rate this month.
According to a statement issued by the NLC state chairman, Comrade Hashimu Gital, and the acting secretary, Mujaheed Muhammad, and made available to newsmen in Bauchi State, the meeting between the two bodies ended without a final stand on the implementation of the new minimum wage.
The statement explained that following the deadlock, the two organs the union had agreed that the state civil servants would receive the old salary scheme during this month payment.
The NLC however insisted that all negotiations on the payment of the new national minimum wage, including the arrears, must be concluded before August 31, and urged workers to remain calm and continue to do their work.
