The source said, “They live in the settlement inside the Kuramo Beach. But you cannot get to the exact spot now because of the constant surge from the Lagoon that could come at any time.”

When our correspondent visited the area, commercial activities was virtually paralysed. Commercial sex workers and traders making a living on the beach were also spotted in leaving the settlement having been rendered homeless by the devastating effects of the ocean surge.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the beach, which has been a threat to traders and resident in the area, reached its peak before it emptied a massive volume of water on the shore and in the process crushing all items, including shanties and plastic kiosk erected by traders along the seashore.

Debris of wrecked plastic chairs and canopies were found along the shore just as surrounding shops including residential quarters were soaked with the water pouring in intermittently while the traders watched the development with dismay.

Some of restaurants where tourists that visit the popular Kuramo beach have practically packed up their business ,waiting to see if the rampaging beach would subside, while other have started leaving in droves.

Some residents who spoke to our correspondent attributed the massive outflow of water from the Lagos Lagoon to the ongoing massive sand -filling on beach to pave way for Eko Atlantic City.

As at the time of filing this report the tidal wave and continuous surge of the ocean water continued on abated damaging the camera of a photo Journalist sighted trying to take picture of the devastation.
