Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has condemned the bomb blast at the United Nation’s office complex in Abuja, yesterday, which claimed the lives of some innocent persons and caused grave damage to the office complex.

Reacting to the incident in Makurdi, Dr. Suswam said the criminal act was perpetrated by persons whose intention was to portray Nigeria in negative light before the international community.

“Nigeria’s relevance in Africa and in the international comity of nations is on the ascendancy and some enemies of progress want to give our dear country a bad image before the international community”, he stated.

Governor Suswam said the attack on the UN office complex was wicked, barbaric and condemnable in all ramifications adding, “The resort to violence cannot be a solution to any problem neither does this criminality address the problems that confront us as a nation.

“This is a national tragedy of the worst form in view of its implications on Nigeria’s relationship with the United Nations and the outside world. “My sincere condolences to the President, His Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and indeed all Nigerians over this national tragedy. My heart goes out to families of the victims of this attack” he added.

Governor Suswam called for an emergency National Security Summit to tackle the emergent national security challenges facing the country, while calling for vigilance from Nigeria people and the security establishments.
He called on the police and the nation’s intelligence community to fish out the masterminds at all cost and brings them to face the law.

“This national embarrassment must be addressed with utmost urgency by the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators” he stressed.
