Several houses and shops in 65 Battallion Bonny Cantonment in Lagos have been taken over by flood at the Bar Beach, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
NAN reports that the flood destroyed the walls of the residence of the Commanding Officer of the cantonment.
Many shops at the Mami market were also destroyed.
A lady shop owner, who pleaded anonymity, said that the stench from the flood drove away many customers.
She said that the Commanding Officer of the cantonment inspected some of the shops that were destroyed and promised to take action.
“Our lives are in danger due to heavy rain,” she said.
NAN reports that efforts to contact the commanding officer to comment on the situation failed. (NAN)
