Kidnappers at the weekend in Delta State abducted the 70- year old Mr. Akpobome Ogrih, father of Mr. Sam Ogrih, a Commissioner in the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission at Uzere, Isoko South Council of the state.
The abduction of the septuagenarian by a gang of four heavily armed gunmen in an Audi saloon car during the early hours of yesterday threw the serene small town into pandemonium.
According to sources in the community, the senior Ogrih was on his way to a Sunday church service at the local branch of the Redeemed Church of God when he was allegedly kidnapped by his abductors and taken to an unknown destination.
Though a comprehensive detail of the kidnap was yet to be known, the source who pleaded anonymity explained that the family members were yet to establish contact with their patriarch’s abductors.
Against the backdrop of the fact that no case of kidnap has before now been recorded in the history of the community which boasts of a handful of top military brasses and politicians, the current trend
came as a rude shock to the people who are still trying to figure out the motive behind the abduction.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka confirmed the incident but assured that the police was on top of it and was determined to fish out the perpetrators.
Muka remarked that the scourge of kidnapping which had slowed down a bit lately could not be eliminated at once and added that the police was determined to make the state unbearable for hoodlums.
