Sarkin Hausawa Calls For Peaceful Coexistence

The new Sarkin Hausawa of Cross River State, Alhaji Salihu Sarki Lawal has urged Hausas in the country to eschew violence, embrace peace and unite with other ethnic nationalities in the country, saying that? peace, stability and cordial relationship among residents were a prerequisite for national development.

?Alhaji Lawal made this call during a familiarisation visit to the Nasarawa Bococo Hausa Community in Calabar, calling on northerners in the South? to maintain the already existing peace among them and other Nigerians in their places of residence.

?The village head of Nasarawa, Alhaji Sani Baba Gombe, while appreciating the new Sarki, pledged to do everything possible to ensure peace among his people and their host community.

?Baba Gombe stressed the need for the new Sarki to equally extend such solidarity and familiarisation visit to all Hausa settlements in various local government areas, including Ikom, Obudu, Obubra, Ogoja and Ugep. He noted that those areas had a large population of Hausas.

Also speaking, the secretary of Nasarawa Youth Development Association, an umbrella body for youths in the area, Nasiru Baba Gombe, appealed to the new leadership to strengthen the relationship between the Hausas in Nasarawa and those of Bogobiri, saying the relationship in the recent past had not been cordial.
The Imam of Nasarawa Central Mosque, Malam Hassan, in a special prayer for the community and the state, sought Allah’s protection and guidance on the Sarki and Cross River? State? leaders in order to pave way for development.
