The new Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has urged residents of? Sabon Gari in the Kano metropolis to assist the police command in flushing out criminals from the state.

Idris said during a visit to the Sabon Gari Market’s Police Divisional Office in Kano that the call had become necessary in order to maintain peace and protect lives and property.
According to him, fighting crime is a responsibility which all residents must collectively ensure always by collaborating with security agencies.

“Government cannot do it alone, hence the need for all of us to work together to ensure security of lives and property.’’
Idris urged the people of the area to always report any suspicious character to the police and also charged officers and men of the police division to dedicate themselves to duty.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee of the area, Malam Munkaila Haruna, had said that insecurity was the major challenge facing Sabon Gari and called for collaboration between the Police and the people to check it.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the police commissioner had paid similar visits to Gwagwarwa and No-man’s Land police stations as part of his familiarisation tour of all police formations in the state. (NAN)
