Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram have? shot dead a retired civil servant with the Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri ,? Yakubu Iliya (67)? and Turmda Malgwi (46)? and a 22-year- old person in Bulunkutu Ward of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council of Borno state.
An eye witness told our correspondent that on Wednesday at about 8.30pm? gunmen numbering three came on foot and opened fire on the people sitting in front their house,? killing the three victims? while two others were injured.

The three persons were shot and killed at the residence of Iliya, after they had finished praying at a community mosque, a kilometre away from the Joint Task Force (JTF) Airport junction checkpoints.
Confirming the development yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command,? Mr.? Simeone Midenda, said: “I received the reports of the attacks and killings in Bulunkutu at about 10.35pm from one of our men on? the field, saying that three unknown gunmen walked on foot and fired several gunshots into the people sitting at Iliya’s residence at about 8pm on Wednesday night.”

The commissioner of police added that the suspects were? the same Boko Haram? sect members that had been waging guerrilla warfare against the police, soldiers, traditional and religious leaders since their leader; Mohammed Yusuf was killed on July 30, 2009.
He said the two other persons that were wounded by the stray bullets were taken to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for treatment, saying? that residents and members of the communities should not relent in their efforts of providing more information to the police on the hideouts and mode of operation of the sect.
