Following the appointment of Mr. Tony Elumelu as Chairman of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), at the group’s annual general meeting in Abuja last week, the corporation has announced a number of board changes to strengthen its governance.
According to a statement from the management, the following appointments were confirmed after a board meeting : Mr. Manz Denga, as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp, Mr. Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, as Director of Transcorp and Chairman of Transnational Hotels and Tourism Services Limited (owner of Transcorp Hilton Abuja), and Transcorp Metropolitan, Calabar, and Dr. Stanley I. Lawson, as Director of Transcorp and Chairman of Transcorp Energy Limited.
Others include Mrs. Angela Nwabuoku, as Director of Transcorp and Chairman of Teragro Limited and Mr. Obinna Ufudo, as Director of Transcorp and Transcorp Energy Limited
Denga, brings over two decades of executive experience, working in various capacities within leading financial services institutions across Africa.
Prior to his appointment with the Group, he was the Chief Executive Officer of UBA Kenya. He also previously served in non-executive and advisory capacities on high-level committees and boards, including the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja Board.
Emerhor, currently serves as Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Standard Alliance Insurance Plc.
He also serves as Chairman of Synetics Technologies Limited, a provider of tailored technology asset management solutions, and Heroes Group, a major manufacturer of furnishings.
Lawson, a widely respected expert with multi-disciplinary professional experience spanning three decades in the energy and financial sectors is Managing Partner of Financial Advisory and Investment Consultants, an oil & gas-sector focused financial advisory services firm.
In December 2004, he was appointed as Group Executive Director of Finance and Accounts at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with core responsibilities for oversight of funding, budgeting and cash flow planning.
