The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje and the immediate past governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki will on Saturday,? in Ilorin, receive the defecting leaders and members of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) into PDP fold.
The chairman of PDP in the state, Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani who dropped this hint yesterday, said all arrangements had been concluded to receive and integrate the defecting ANPP members into the ruling family.
He disclosed that Baraje would be accompanied to Ilorin, the state capital, by some national officials of the PDP while the state governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, would also grace the occasion.
Balogun-Fulani, in a statement signed by the party’s Director of Publicity, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, said that “the ANPP has through its leader, who is also the official candidate for the governorship election in the state, Alhaji Khaleel Bolaji, declared their readiness to publicly defect to the ruling PDP in the state.
?“The party had during the last general elections stepped down for the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed after due consultations with the party hierarchy at all levels.”
He described the action of ANPP as a welcome development and demonstration of patriotism.
He added that “the decision of ANPP to join our great party at this time has not only confirms the acceptability of PDP and the belief of Kwarans in its leadership, but a testimony that the development of our dear state is the responsibility of all of us. The wisdom of the party to fuse with the PDP large family is indeed commendable.”
