Former managing director of defunct Daily Times and one of the contestants for yesterday’s primaries in Kogi State,Mr. Onukaba Adinoyi Ojo has opted out of the exercise.
Addressing the media in Lokoja? yesterday, the aspirant said that the decision to boycott the PDP governorship primaries was as a result of? the hijacking of? last Saturday’s? election of? ad hoc delegates.
He pointed out that only selection were made in the process across the three senatorial districts of the state, as the delegates were simply handpicked.
He posited further that only those who compiled the list of delegates know them, and said that as one of the aspirants cleared to contest the primaries, he? was supposed to know the delegates and canvass for them, but sadly, that is not the case.
Ojo further said? that since that process was not credible, there was no how the primaries would be free and fair, and described the situation as totally unacceptable.
?It was based on this unfortunate development, according to the aspirant, that he decided to withdraw from the race and? insist that the primaries had already been concluded.
He stressed that he could not be part of the flawed process, and participating in the process would amount to lending? it credibility.
Onukaba, therefore, called on the national secretariat of the party to outrightly? cancel the primaries and reschedule it in another state, and said that no credible election could? take place in Kogi State, under the subsisting? arrangement.
