There was confusion in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital following the arrest of a middle-aged man with materials suspected to be explosives by soldiers at 2 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army.? ?

The man, whose name was not given by the authorities was arrested while driving into the barracks.
A spokesman for the Battalion, Lt. Col. Aminu Iliasu said: “Between 12 noon and 1pm today (yesterday) Soldiers on guard arrested a middle aged man at the gate of the 2 Amphibious Brigades in Port Harcourt, as he tried to drive into the barracks.? ?

He was arrested with items suspected could be used to do something harmful. The man is in our custody and we are still investigation,” the PRO said.
Iliyasu said that the middle aged man was alone in a private car driving into the barrack?? when eagle-eyed soldiers on guard at the gate stopped and searched the vehicle where the suspected items were discovered.? ?

The army spokesman however refused to disclose the identity of the man or identify the nature of the items.
“Since the incident is still under investigation, disclosure of the man’s identity, items found on him and where he comes from will surely jeopardize investigation,” he said.
