Gov. Obi Gets Akwa Ibom Chieftaincy Title

The Traditional Rulers Council of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has conferred the chieftaincy title of Eduek Akwa Ibom on Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State.
The title was conferred on Obi on Friday in Uyo by the outgoing chairman of the council, Okuku Uwa Umoh Adiaka 111, the paramount ruler of Obot Akara, on behalf of the council.

Adiaka, who described the governor as “A worthy son-in-law of the state’’, said that the title was conferred on him because of his sterling performance as the governor of Anambra.

He urged Obi not to relent in his efforts to transform Anambra, and added that he should always strive to enhance the living conditions of the people.
In his acceptance speech, Obi urged the people of Akwa Ibom to continue to support Governor Godswill Akpabio, and noted that the governor efforts at developing the state has been widely aknowledged.

“It is not in my character to receive titles and honorary awards, but today, it has become imperative for me to receive this title, because it comes from the people who are so dear to my heart,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Obi thanked the council and the people of Akwa Ibom for the honour bestowed on him and his wife who was also conferred with the title of Nkpo Idara Akwa Ibom. ?
He called on the people to always have it in mind that the state belonged to them, and added that added that, “If you must criticise, it should be done constructively.’’

Besides, Obi urged all the people of Anambra State who were resident in Akwa Ibom to remain law-abiding, while respecting all constituted authorities.
