“We have formed good partnership over the years; we are happy that the 2011 general elections was a huge success and your organization was a prominent contributor to that success even as we will like to appeal to you to continue to identify with us especially during the continuous voter registration exercise and the delineation of constituencies which will begin very soon,” he said.
Earlier in his address, the NOA boss scored high the electoral body’s conduct of the 2011 election, saying it remained the most credible and free election since the return of democracy to the country in 1999. Farouk cited independent reports by both domestic and foreign observers as a testament.

“The 2011 general elections recorded the lowest number of petitions since 1999. This success was achieved due largely to the collective resolve of the commission to succeed and this conferred legitimacy on the government as well necessary for the deepening of democracy and national unity,” Farouk stated.

The NOA boss boasted that his agency was probably the largest single observer body of the last general elections, with no fewer than 1,000 monitors deployed to the 774 local government areas in Nigeria.
He assured that NOA would continue work with INEC to mobilise Nigerians to participate fully in future elections.
