Following the industrial action embarked upon by civil servants over the N18,000 minimum wage in Plateau State, more labour unions are to join the strike as? unions of tertiary institutions have also threaten to start another strike on Wednesday, if all means to tackle the issue with the state government fails to materialize.
Chairman, Tertiary Institutions of Plateau State, Comrade Yusuf Chalsan, told newsmen in Jos yesterday the state government was not actually sincere and serious about the matter “because by the time we met last week, we had agreed that we would converged on Friday so that we should look at the compliance of government particularly on the outstanding salaries of about five months that had not been paid. So when we met on that Friday government started talking about no work, no pay.”
He said the government’s negotiators appealed to the workers to give them up to Wednesday this week to speak to the governor one-on-one because by the time the governor was not in town.
