A number of key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Lagos State have petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan over an alleged nomination of the wife of former PDP National Vice Chairman, South, Chief Olabode George,? Mrs Roli Bode-George as Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission representing Lagos State.
The petition, also addressed to the Senate president, David Mark, and made available to the press yesterday indicated that the leaders’ objection to the nomination was because the nominee, Mrs. Roli Bode-George, is not from the state.
They have therefore appealed to the president to stop the nomination which, they said, would amount to injustice and capable of causing disaffection among members of the party in Lagos State if allowed to stay.
The petition was jointly signed by the chairman of the party’s Elders’ Council, Dr. Abayomi Finnih, former minister of works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, former state chairman, Alhaji Muritala Ashorobi, former Lagos State deputy governor, Chief Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, Chief Jide Damazio, Otunba Tokunboh Kamson and Mrs. Modupe Sasore.
The petition read in part, “Our attention has been drawn to a recent newspaper publication indicating that Mrs. Roli Bode-George is being screened for appointment as a federal commissioner of the National Population Commission representing Lagos State.
