A Bauchi-based social group, the Association for the Support of Higher Education (ASHE) has organised a civic reception in honour of the first female professor in Bauchi State, Prof. Fatima Jafar Tahir.
The event, according to the Chairman of the Association, Mr.Sabo Muhammad, was to honour and rejoice with Prof Tahir as the first female professor in the state produced by the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi. ?

He added that her emergence as a professor was a pride to the state and the North at large, considering the low level of education among women in the region.
The group also explained that the aim of the association was to revamp education in the state by partnering with the government and organising educative activities such as seminars and symposia.?

Muhammad also congratulated the celebrant and thanked all those who graced the occasion.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi ,Prof Muhammad Hamisu Muhammad represented by Prof Ladan Shehu ascribed Prof Fatima Tahir’s success in life to her zeal and hardwork even as he charged other women to emulate her.

He also urged the celebrant to continue to contribute ?towards the progress of education in the State.
Responding the 45-year-Old ?professor of Micro-biology, ?expressed appreciation to the association for honouring her and thanked all that witnessed the event.
Tahir pointed out that her success in life was the will of God ?and encouraged other women to work hard so as to excel in life.?
